This is really well done! For being new to art it's hard to tell. Sometimes simple is amazing and I feel like this is that case. You get 5 stars from me! IF you showed this to my art teachers then both would give you a pat on your shoulder then brag about you and your art. (Something they do to boost your confident. It honestly work)

I'm rooting for you for the contest. Can't wait to see what you will do in the future. Just imaging what you can do if you had a drawing tablet just makes me hope you win.
